Er...Lisa, WTF are oracle cards?!!

This week is the equinox AND…it’s the week when the SHE SIRENS Oracle is finally released…

SO EXCITED.

Over in the SHE Power Collective last week, one of the gorgeous women asked ‘err, Lisa, I love you, but what actually ARE oracle cards, why do you create them + how do they work?’ which made me laugh because I realised that I TOTALLY take it for granted that people know what  oracle cards ARE + that I’ve never actually explained them from MY perspective.

I mean, I’m aware that they’re now quite popular in certain circles now + they are WAY more mainstream than they used to be, but for ME, oracle cards, in general, are...

WTF ARE ORACLE CARDS + HOW DO I USE THEM?
Oracle cards, to me, are a guide + support for your OWN INTUITION.

You can pull a card daily + use that word, phrase + the energetics of the card as a guiding force throughout the day.

You could do a card pull at every new moon - 4 cards one for each phase/week of the moon cycle to offer guidance + support for that particular week/phase of the cycle.

If you have a decision or move to make, you can ask the deck, shuffle + use the oracle cards that you pull to create a through-line, a storyline of possibility that can support what you are already thinking + feeling.

Be VERY side-eye-y of ANYONE who claims that oracle cards can give you ‘answers’.
I’m possibly the worst saleswoman in the world, but know that you don’t NEED oracle cards.

YOU are the mother-loving oracle.
YOU are the altar space they reside on.
YOU are the whole SHE BANG.
Just so we’re 100% clear on THAT.

AND…they ARE super-helpful, especially when you’re in the process of Self Source-ery - of coming to your senses, trusting your instincts + remembering your magic. They can act as a much-needed support + guide as you come into relationship with your own wisdom + magic + medicine.

In answer to the second part of Clara's question, now, why do I create oracle decks?

Well, my first deck, the self-published SASSY SHE oracle, were created because I NEEDED to make art to support ME while my mumma was dying.
I won’t lie, 99% of what I create + share is because I NEEDED IT FIRST + FOREMOST.
It was my only way of making sense that my mumma would no longer be in the world.
Then when she WAS no longer here, in her body, each piece of art became a card that was infused with Her, that I could ask for help + guidance while I was struggling to trust myself.
I shared them with a few people who demanded a deck too because they were so bold + colourful, a real opposition to the pastel-washed spirituality that was + still isn’t my jam AT ALL.

FYI: many of you know, I now cringe at the crudeness of my art work on that first deck - yet, they are a moment-marker in time + everyone I know who uses them, really FEELS the Ma medicine + magic in every card.

Now the SHE SIRENS - like I said earlier, you’ll have to read the accompanying guidebook for THAT. Wink.

In answer to the third part of Clara's question - because damn, you're a GOOD journo, Clara - How do you use the cards?

There are many, many ways to work with, and to use oracle cards.
What you might find with my decks (that you haven’t experienced with others), is that the more you work with them, and the more creative you become with the ‘how’, the more that they will reveal to you.

Again, yes, I created them, but these cards?
The decks that I create?
Once you have them in YOUR hands, they belong to YOU.

Hold them in your hands, bring them close to your heart and ask them how they want to be used.
Ask them where they want to be stored - some like to stay in their box, others like to be wrapped in a piece of cloth of a certain colour that might depend on your current mood and energy.
Some like to be used on specific days, or under a full or new moon, while others want to be used + used until their colours fade and edges fray.

 Here’s some of my suggestions:

- Pin them to a wall because…well, let’s face it, they’re pretty to look at.

- Starting a new job/project? Ask a SHE siren to step forward as your creative muse.

- If you do yoga or a have a morning spiritual practice, pull a card and place it either under your mat or cushion to infuse your morning practice with the energetics of that particular card.


- Pull a card at every new moon to set the scene for the cycle ahead.


- If you experience a menstrual cycle, pull a card on the first day of your bleed, and let your siren call make itself known to you in the dreamtime of menstruation.


- Use them as a daily prayer card + let them lead you on a SHE-led adventure in the direction of your destiny.


- Slip a card in a friend’s bag when they’re not looking with the wish and hope that it supports them exactly when they need it most.


- Pull a card, sleep with it under your pillow for SHE enhanced dream time.

- When I pull a card every Monday in the SPC, I then place the card on my altar to evoke its energy for the week ahead. You can pull a card daily + let the energetics and frequency of that card evoke the support required for the day in exactly the same way.

- Whether you do a daily or a weekly or a moon cycle card pull, save the image to your phone/computer screen depending on which you look at more, + make it your screensaver to remind you of what energies are moving through every time you look at it.

- Pull a card and write out the affirmation on a post-it note. Put it on your mirror or by your bed, so it’s the first thing you see and speak when you wake up.

- Create a spell or invocation with the energy of the card as your guide.

NOTE: I’ve channeled, drawn, written and shared the energy, medicine + magic that I feel each card holds with the express intention that they each hold the fierce feminine SHE Sirens frequency that will support your remembrance.

Your siren call.

Your song.

That’s it.

The rest?

Well, that up to you.
